The Route: Utah to South Dakota
This route guide provides a recommended path for commercial truck drivers traveling from Utah to South Dakota. While specific origin and destination points within each state will influence minor route adjustments, this provides the most efficient and commonly used Interstate route.
The primary Interstate Highways involved are I-80 and I-15.
- Initial Leg (Utah): Begin your journey on I-15 North from your origin point in Utah. Depending on your starting location, you may need to merge onto I-15 from other state or US highways.
- Connecting to I-80 (Wyoming): Continue north on I-15 until you reach I-80 East near Echo, Utah. Merge onto I-80 East.
- I-80 Across Wyoming: Follow I-80 East across Wyoming. This is a significant portion of the trip, so ensure adequate rest stops and fuel planning.
- Entering South Dakota: I-80 does not directly enter South Dakota. You'll take I-25 North from Cheyenne, WY up to Casper, and then switch to I-90 East to enter South Dakota.
- I-90 across South Dakota: Upon entering South Dakota, I-90 East will be your primary route. Follow I-90 East to your final destination within the state.
